I FINALLY FINISHED THE DISHES #2 and DUTCH BANKET TASTE WITHOUT THE WORK

Without a dishwasher, the dishes really pile up when I am seriously cooking for the blog.  Today was a catch up day with the dishes plus I made a 1950's chocolate cake that was on the back of a Hershey's Cocoa can.  It is the only chocolate cake that my friend's family ever makes and she shared the recipe with me.  The cake is rich, moist and heavy with a frosting like you have probably never had.  It will be on the blog soon.

St. Nicholas' Day is just a couple weeks away.  For a recipe that gives all the great flavor of Dutch Banket or Banket Staven, try this recipe from Dutch Week in May for Dutch Almond Bars.  This recipe is a family favorite.  The bar cookies taste just like the filling of Banket without the work of making the pastry and rolling out the pastry and filling.  Simple and heavenly delicious.

Eet Smakelijk!!!!
