A NEAT TACO---FRITO PIE OR WALKING TACO

I think a plastic fork is a must for eating Frito Pie.

I love anything taco, salads, corn shell tacos, flour tortilla tacos, and taco dips.  The problem is that I always end up wearing the contents down my front.  Eating a Walking Taco or Frito Pie, is much neater to eat as all the taco goodies are in a single-size bag of Fritos or Doritos which can be held close to your mouth as you eat.  The Walking Tacos or Frito pies are usually associated with Friday Night Lights football.  They are a great fund raiser for parent support groups.  However, I think they are perfect for sports parties at home, graduation buffets, potlucks, and children's parties.

My family likes everything on their tacos.  Well-drained and seasoned meat, Monterrey Jack and Cheddar cheese, avocado, green onions, lettuce, tomatoes, green and red salsa, sour cream.

There is a dispute over who "invented" Walking Tacos or Frito Pies.  In Texas according to Wikipedia, the Frito Pie was developed by the mother of the founder of Frito-Lay, Elmer Doolin, in 1932. In my books on southwestern cooking, the Frito Pie started at the lunch counter in F. W. Woolworth's on the square in Santa Fe.  The Midwest gave the Frito Pies the name Walking Tacos.

Have a selection of single-size bags of Fritos and Doritos for everyone to pick their favorite.  I like Doritos.
Pop open the top of your bag of choice.
Crush the chips for easier eating.
Add ground meat, see the steam coming off the meat?
Add cheese so it can melt on the meat.
Add additional ingredients as desired.
Mix the ingredients up in the bag.  Eat with a plastic fork and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
