CHRISTY'S CHOCOLATE CHIP CHEESECAKE DIP OR SPREAD

Christy's dip or spread is delightful served with graham crackers and fresh fruit. It is just too delicious when spread on chocolate graham crackers. We like it for dessert at our tailgating parties.  It is so easy to make and doesn't require an extra plate or an eating utensil.  This is better if it is made ahead so it works well as an appetizer for Tom’s After Glow parties with the Winds band.  It is a nice contrast to the usually salty appetizers.

All the taste of cheesecake without the work.  Enjoy!!!

CHRISTY'S CHOCOLATE CHIP CHEESECAKE DIP OR SPREAD
I have made the nuts optional as not all my kids and grandchildren like nuts. I increase the chocolate chips to one-cup to make up for the missing nuts in my spread. I like to serve this as a spread rather than a dip.

1 (8oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened
½ c butter, softened
¾ c powdered sugar
2 T brown sugar
¾  t vanilla
¾ c miniature semisweet chocolate chips
¾ c pecans, finely chopped, optional

Cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and miniature chocolate chips.  Nuts, optional

Good dippers:  Fresh fruit, animal crackers, pretzels, graham crackers or vanilla wafers.

In medium bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer until smooth. Mix in powdered sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. With a spoon or spatula, stir in the chocolate chips. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 2 hours. Shape chilled cream cheese mixture into a ball. Wrap with plastic wrap and chill for at least another hour. Roll the cheese ball in pecans before serving.  To make a spread, put mixture into a serving bowl and place in the refrigerator to chill.

Put softened butter and cream cheese in a bowl.

With an electric mixer, beat until smooth.

Add vanilla, brown sugar and powdered sugar.  Beat to blend well.

Add miniature chocolate chips and stir with spoon or spatula to mix well.

Ready to put into a dish for a spread or to make into a ball.

Wrap in plastic wrap to make a ball and refrigerate.

Put into a dish to serve as a dip.

I serve with chocolate graham crackers, animal crackers, pretzels and mini vanilla wafers for a children's party.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!
