APRONS---A SALUTE TO PATRICIA, A MASTER APRON MAKER

When I was young, an apron was as important to a woman's wardrobe as her dress or shoes.  My Grandma K. only took her apron off if she was going to church.  Aprons were always sold at church sales and were considered a lovely gift for a birthday or Christmas.  There were even special apron hooks to hang your apron on at night.

Grandma did take her apron off for this family picture.

Aprons fell out of favor during the hippie years, but are making a big comeback now.  Patricia makes an incredible reversible apron specially designed for the person who will receive it as a gift.

The apron that Patricia made for me.

The tulip on the pocket of my apron.

Patricia says that she gets the same thrill shopping for fabric that I get going to a new ethnic grocery store or looking at a dessert.  She made my apron to celebrate my blog.  The flower on the pocket is a tulip and the fabric, blue and yellow, to honor my Dutch heritage.

The reverse side of my apron.

The reverse side of my apron is again blue for my Dutch heritage plus blue is my favorite color.  Patricia has been a big supporter of my blog since its beginning.  She has been amazed at all the different countries that have signed onto the blog.  So the decoration on this side of the apron reflects a world-wide view.

I will treasure this apron forever no matter if aprons are in style or out.  I will keep it close to my heart and never forget the giver and designer, Patricia.
