SANDMANN'S GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN SECRET RECIPE SPAGHETTI SALAD

HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY CHRISTY AND BOB.

Christy and Bob renewing their marriage vows.

Christy and Bob recently celebrated their 25th Anniversary renewing their vows and having a fantastic pig roast catered by Sandmann's of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Sandmann's wins Best in the City Barbeque Restaurant just about every year in a poll done by Grand Rapids Magazine.  Their ratings are well deserved judging by the food we were treated to by Christy and Bob.

CUTTING THE CAKE!

SANDMANN'S BARBEQUE
The pig is revealed.

Mandy wouldn't eat any meat after seeing the head.  The head didn't stop the rest of us from chowing down.

The meat was taken off the bones and put in pans for serving.  I wanted some cheek meat as I had always heard it was the best, but my pleas went unanswered.  Tom and I use to make delicious, rich tacos with beef cheek meat.

I am always poking my nose into the cook's business.  After the meat was put into pans, the cook sprinkled it with Lemon Pepper seasoning to heighten the flavor.

THE DINNER
So many times the rolls or bread are just after thoughts.  Sandmann's rolls were delicious and the pig (as Tom would call it, he never said pork) was "eat so much you hurt" wonderful.

On Sandmann's web site, the food is advertised as being made from family recipes.  I want to be part of the family so I can have the recipes for the beans and potato salad.  They were sublime.

The family and guests fell in love with the Spaghetti Salad.  Christy asked the caterer what was in the wonderful spaghetti salad.  He told her it was a secret spice blend.  Cindy poked me and whispered in my ear, "I know what the blend is.  It is Pasta Supreme Seasoning by McCormick."

The first thing I did when I arrived home was look for a bottle of Pasta Supreme on my spice wall.  Sure enough, Cindy was right!!  In fact the recipe is on the back of the label.  The recipe calls for fresh vegetables of your choice.  I made the salad with the vegetables that were in Sandmann's salad---tomatoes, cucumber and red onion only I used white sweet onion as that is what they had at the Farmer's Market.

SANMANN'S SECRET RECIPE SPAGHETTI SALAD

1 lb. (4 c) cooked spaghetti
4 T McCormick Pasta Supreme Seasoning
8 oz. (1 c) Italian dressing
Approximately 4 c fresh vegetables of your choice, diced
(I used 1 large tomato, 1 medium cucumber and 1/2 large onion)

Ingredients:  Spaghetti, Italian dressing, McCormick Pasta Supreme seasoning, diced, fresh vegetables of your choice.

McCormick Salad Supreme Seasoning contains:  Romano cheese, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, celery seed, garlic, black pepper, and red pepper.

  Dice fresh vegetables.

I used cucumber.

I used 1/2-large onion.

Diced onion and cucumber.

Dice tomato.  I used 1-large tomato.

Size of dice that I used.

 Amount of vegetables I used.

Cook spaghetti according to package directions.

Before draining spaghetti, reserve some of the pasta cooking water.

 Drain spaghetti.

 Combine vegetables.

 Add Pasta Supreme seasoning.

Oops, need a larger bowl.

Add some pasta water so the spaghetti doesn't soak up too much dressing.

Add vegetables and seasoning to spaghetti.

Add dressing to vegetables and spaghetti.

Mix to combine.

  A very pretty salad.

Thank you, Sandmann's, for a luscious salad.  Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!
