GRAND HAVEN COAST GUARD FESTIVAL
Every town along the Lake shore has a summer festival. This week it is Grand Haven's Coast Guard Festival. It is the only festival in the country to honor a branch of the nation's military. We have lots of traffic and tourists in town as well as food carts, a carnival and different activities every day. The one thing missing is the Coast Guard Icebreaker Mackinaw. There is a new modern Mackinaw icebreaker but it is not here. To us it is not the Coast Guard Festival without the Mackinaw. It has been here every summer of our life. Maybe the new one wants to skip the festival as the first time is came into Grand Haven's harbor, it hit the Grand Haven pier a couple of times. OOOOphs!
