KENT HARVEST TRAILS FOR THE WEEKEND

Do want to pick apples or go to a pumpkin patch?  Go on a hayride or play in a corn maze?  Cider mills, petting zoos, FRESH DOUGHNUTS, gifts and decorations.  Kids acitvities at just about every farm or orchard.  For 6 weeks in the fall, Kent Harvest Trails is a group of 22 farms and orchards offering lots of fun activities for the whole family.  http://www.kentharvesttrails.org/

One of our favorites, because they frost their doughnuts with cream cheese frosting, is Scwallier's Country Basket on 9 mile and Alpine north of Grand Rapids.  These pictures were taken in the middle of the week so it is not as crowded as usual.

This is where you buy the doughnuts!!!

There are lots of goats, bunnies, and chickens to feed.

Hay bales to climb on and jump off.

This cow train only runs on the weekends.  Seeing it come roaring out of the orchard, filled with children, it quite a sight.  I love this cow train.  Most of the orchards have some sort of train but this one is my favorite.

The newest way to grow apples is on wire like they do grapes.

A row of apple trees using the new apple growing technique.

A big drainage pipe becomes a giant slide.  The grandchildren love this one.  There benches to rest on, picnic tables to enjoy your food, and a wagon to take you on an orchard tour.

Not a sand box, but a corn crib filled with dried corn.

You can milk a cow.

Or you can ride a horse.

Lots of baked goods and these fall decorations.  Enjoy each farm as they all have something different to offer.
